On the way to the airport...

President Bush is in New HampshireTickets.com requires we use the economy parking...so I patiently awaited the shuttle in Lot C. Not a long wait...although it was hot and humid...

Then the shuttle went to Lot D...and you can see what was visible there in the picture. The driver, who was kind enough to stop so a couple of us could snap pictures, said President Bush was visiting Nashua High School today.

I really wish Mikey was here to see the plane...he and I are both big supporters of our President.

I'm off to southern California...leaving in about an hour...

Breakfast in Meriden...

Mikey has joined me on a business trip to our newly moved office in Meriden, Connecticut. Here he is enjoying a drink before breakfast...

It should be an uneventful day...

I am so tired...

Covered bridge #9These two pictures will give you and idea of what I've been doing the past two days.

The covered bridge, which was on the way to Contoocook, had "Covered Bridge #9" as it's title. I snapped that image while traveling to pick up a bed that was given to my in-laws. After picking it up, I helped them load a truck as part of them moving to Maine. When I returned home, I started power-washing our back deck...but our 1400 PSI washer was going to take too long (and wasn't doing as good a job as I hoped).

Still wetAlso assisting in the move was my Uncle Pat (in-law), who when he heard of my plans to power-wash the deck, offered to let me borrow his industrial-strength one. After it became clear mine wasn't going to work, we took him up on his offer and drove to Newport to grab the unit (about 45 minutes away).

Although it looks more impressive when it is dry, the photo shows that it did make the wood look a lot newer. I am soooooooo tired :-)

Darkness on Elm Avenue

Darkness hits Elm AvenueIf you click on the picture, and follow the arrow, you can see why we lost our power earlier today. The tree didn't actually sever the line, but they had to turn off the power to safely remove it.

Otherwise a gloomy day here in Antrim...but Accuweather promises finer weather starting tomorrow...

Ice cream in Hillsborough...

After catching the movie we figured we'd get the kids ice cream...so we stopped at Diamond Acres in Hillsborough. As you can see, Mikey and April decided to have some real food first.

By the way, "Alien Versus Predator" was pretty good. Mikey says "Yu-Gi-Oh" was a three star movie (out of five). I'd give AVP three and a half or four.

A great view...

Mount Monadnock from Mount Missionary

After church today we visited friends who live on the Mount Missionary compound. This photo is a merge of several taken from the third floor of a mansion on the land. It's in the midst of significant repairs (due to years of neglect). It's served many purposes since it stopped being used as a residence.

Even though the different light levels in the pieces obscures the full beauty, you can see the awesome view available from the home.

If I caught it right, the reason the building is even in New Hampshire is because in the first half of the 1900s the owner was given an inheritance contingent on living in the house. He didn't want to live in Worcester, Massachusetts...so he had it moved to Harrisville.

I wouldn't want to live in Taxachusetts either :-)

If you click on the image you'll get a much larger version of it...

Resting after the kill...

Resting after the kill...I tried to get a picture of Bear feading on the carcass of his kill -- a stuffed white tiger from Mikey's zoo collection (given by Aunt Lisa). Bear, however, saw that as me giving him attention, and kept coming over...

So, instead I snapped him sleeping next to his trophy...he was even snoring when I went to compose this :-)

Mikey just got home from his swim lesson and has saved his tiger. Mikey also started riding his bike without any help yesterday (he and I will spend some more time practicing tonight at the elementary school parking lot)...

Back to the early 70's...

Mikey in the mirror...Michelle and I spent a day together to celebrate our anniversary early, catching a movie ("The Village") in Keene, New Hampshire.

After grabbing lunch and shopping at Staples we headed home. There is an antique shop on Route 9 in Antrim that we have meant to stop at many a time -- so we did. We left with the dresser pictured here. The original owner said they bought it in 1972 -- and the style (which I think is great) fits that period perfectly (although I would call it more of a 60's style).

Elm Avenue construction...In other news...

Elm Avenue actually has quite a bit of traffic -- it connects Route 9 and Route 202, and it has quite a few houses (including a good amount of recent construction). Yesterday the shortcut between 9 and 202 was blocked as they put a new tube under the road for a creek (which actually runs through our land). While chatting with the workers, I found out that part of the flooding this year was due to someone partially damming the flow to help a duck pool on the other side of the road. They ended up getting a duck lake :-)
