What every bus needs...

What every bus needsThis is a picture I took a while ago on a field trip with Mikey's school to New Hampshire's state capital building. One would hope they do not have many occasions to use the kit :-)

The smell of freshly cut grass...

Another unknown flower...I was a bit tardy in doing the first mow of the year (and actually still have to do our less-than-flat back yard). However, late yesterday ambition hit me (actually, more of a realization that today's travel to visit friends means I'm running out of time before my trip to Costa Mesa), and I fired up the lawn mower (which took a few extra pulls, but started pretty quickly).

Although I couldn't help but decapitate many of our little white flowers (please see previous blog), I commuted the sentence for the orange group here. Not necessarily the most manly thing, I know...but I really like wild flowers.

As for what it is...I need to locate my flower naming book. Of course, I'm going to be totally depressed if someone tells me what it is and I find it isn't native to New Hampshire :-)

Big concert in Antrim...

20040422luther.jpgAntrim is home to the foremost Chicago West Style guitarest, Luther "Guitar Junior" Johnson.

I was really excited to find out he was playing in our local pub...and quickly grabbed tickets for my wife and myself (as you can see)...

Alas, family duty called and I was traveling to and from Lebanon instead...but I know sooner or later I will be able to hear his sweet guitar work!

(He should be given credit...he definitely could have played a more prestigious place and gotten more per ticket...and I'm sure those who were able to attend got a great show...)

Air conditioners, flowers, and bobcats...

Flowers are starting to bloom...I know, I know, it's been too long since my last post. After a couple week's traveling it has taken this long for my brain to catch up...

Not much happening for the Fahrners in Antrim. It did get warm enough to warrant installing our three air conditioners. (To those in warmer clients it probably seems illogical not to have central air, but most houses and apartments in New Hampshire don't.)

Warm weather means that the forest looks more like a jungle again (pictures in future blogs). It also means the lawn requires some attention, so I took a quick picture of some small flowers that I really like before I behead them with our lawnmower.

My daughter Jen's Geo Tracker was making a weird noise on the way home from Sam's Club today, so I turned off the locks on the front axles and just came back from taking it out on a quick test drive. On the way back I'm pretty sure I saw a bobcat crossing the road. A stub tale an very big...too big to be a house cat...

Not dead yet...

QuickCam snapshotI've been a bit silent on my blog this past week. First I was in Las Vegas, Nevada for a kiosk convention. Then I went to help out a non-profit I volunteer for in Redlands, California. Now I'm in Costa Mesa, California to visit Tickets.com's headquarters (for whom I work)...

I was going to do this blog at 11PM Pacific (at a good stopping point on a program I'm writing)...but I got a server error when I tried to run Movabletype...

Nagdabbit! I installed a Red Hat httpd update earlier in the day that must of zapped it. Hmm...what to do?

Luckily upgrading Plesk to the latest version (a minor step up from what it was) solved the issue (clearly the way Red Hat, by default, compiles Apache is different from the way Plesk does when it comes to suexec)...

Either way, the picture proves I'm still alive. It was taken by a QuickCam for Notebooks Pro that I was given this weekend...

I know, I know, I need to shave...

(If you reaaaaaallllly want to see a larger picture of me, please just click on the image.)
