The storm that already snowed on the mid-Atlantic hit us last night (and continues through tomorrow). I'm not sure how many inches we have already gotten, but we've shoveled the decks and snow blown the driveway twice.
Michelle chose a new minivan yesterday, but it took so long she had to wait until today to pick it up. That would have happened after church, but the weather made the trip to Keene (actually Swanzee) unwise (a significant portion of the trip is going "up").
Finally, we had a bit of a scare. We let the dogs out free the first time we attacked the snow, and Bear went down to the creek...then walked out on the creek...then fell through the slushy ice. As I ran to rescue him, for a moment I couldn't see him, and I was afraid he'd "gone under." Luckily he hadn't, but he was stuck and unable to do more than keep his head above water. I jumped in (water toward the top of my calves) and grabbed him...
So much for everything I was wearing to protect myself from the snow :-)
If you click on the pictures they will give you a larger version. The first is of a very happy Michelle with her minivan, the second of part of our woods (and creek), and the third where Bear fell through (much later, but you can still see light areas where he was trapped and I jumped in).
After the bus picked up Mikey this morning, I climbed in the car and headed for the post office. It was 5°F at the Fahrners...but by the time I reached the cemetary it was 0°F...
Nothing that propane can't hanlde :-)
I unsuccessfully tried to to find out how common they are on the web (only looking quickly), but I was pleasantly surprised to see a cold weather rainbow on my way to the post office. The temperature was in the teens (my guess around 13) when I stopped on Elm Avenue to snap this picture. It wasn't as dark as it seems in the photo, but if I digitally lightened it, it would have washed out the rainbow...

I just got back from bringing April to work...most of the way was 17 degrees, when I got back home it was 15...
It's also decently windy...so with the snow...brrrrr....
But I love it!!! :-)

Egad! I'm looking at the My-Cast.com forecast for Antrim and it says that it'll be 7 degrees tomorrow morning at 7AM. Brrrrrrrr... :-)
(Of course, I don't recall them predicting the snow that accumulated over night...)
Residents of Antrim woke up the morning of Tuesday, December 2nd to find the ground covered with a cold white substance. After confirming it was not fall-out from a nuclear blast, ash from a volcanic eruption, or manna from heaven, local authorities were fairly convinced it was snow...
(Alas, it has now turned to just light flurries...)
Three and a half days off, and it seems like I never stopped working :-)
No great pictures from this weekend to share, but I did want to show you the squirrel I saw about a week ago in Redlands, California. I don't have eagle-eyes...but this critter was making a very loud bird-like call. In searching for the source, I saw him/her...and sure enough I could see his/her stomach going in and out with the noise.
Sorry I haven't had any exciting Antrim tidbits as of late...I'll work on it :-)
